Junior Crew

The next step after Mini Crew, or a perfect place to start!

 

Junior Crew is where kids begin transitioning from learning soccer skills to actually playing the game. This 7-week youth soccer program in St. Louis includes practices and games against other local teams, with an emphasis on fun, teamwork, and building confidence.

Junior Crew is all about learning soccer, making friends, and enjoying being part of a team. The focus is on player development and having fun, not winning at all costs.

 

Whether your child has completed our Mini Crew soccer program or is brand new to soccer, Junior Crew welcomes players ages 5-10. We group players by age and ability to help create a balanced, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone.

 

Junior Crew is offered during the fall, winter, and spring, giving young players multiple opportunities throughout the year to keep learning, growing, and enjoying the game with friends.

 

Perfect for First-Time Players: Never kicked a soccer ball before? No problem. Many Junior Crew players are beginners, so kids can learn and develop together in a supportive environment.

Next Step After Mini Crew: Players who have completed Mini Crew can continue building their skills while gaining experience with team practices and real games.

Build Friendships and Teamwork: Players learn how to work together, communicate, and become part of a team while making new friends along the way.

A Balance of Competition and Fun: Junior Crew gives families a structured soccer experience without the pressure or commitment of highly competitive programs.

Everything you need to know about Junior Crew

$150 Fee

Weekly Practices

  1. 60-minute practice, once per week
  2. Fun drills that build actual skills
  3. Small-sided games and scrimmages
  4. Positive coaching and encouragement
  5. Team bonding activities
  6. Focus on Ball Control, Passing, Shooting, and Teamwork!

Game Experience

  1. One game per weekend (typically Friday)
  2. Playing against other Columbia/St. Louis area teams
  3. Modified field sizes for age groups
  4. Emphasis on fun and learning, not just winning
  5. Everyone gets equal playing time

Team Experience

  1. Assigned to age-appropriate team
  2. Team jersey and uniform provided
  3. Team practices and team bonding
  4. Learning positions and basic strategy

Facilities

  1. Training held at our climate-controlled indoor facility during inclement weather, or on our outdoor turf otherwise, so your plans are never canceled due to weather!

FAQs

Soccer cleats (or athletic shoes), shin guards, a water bottle, soccer ball and comfortable athletic clothes. We provide the team jersey, shorts, and all other practice equipment.
Absolutely! Most Junior Crew players are beginners. We group kids by age and skill level to ensure everyone has a positive, age-appropriate experience. No prior soccer experience needed!
Every player is guaranteed to play at least half of every game. We rotate positions and ensure everyone gets meaningful time on the field. This isn't about sitting on the bench, it's about playing and learning!
We follow a weather policy for safety. Practices and games may be cancelled for severe weather, lightning, or unsafe field conditions. Winter season is indoors, so weather is never an issue! Coaches will communicate any cancellations.
We group players by age and try to balance skill levels across teams. If you have requests, let us know during registration and we'll do our best to accommodate!
Totally normal! Our coaches are experienced with helping kids adjust. Some kids jump right in, others need time to warm up. We create a positive, encouraging environment where every child feels safe to participate at their own pace.
Players can continue with Junior Crew for multiple seasons (it's recreational, so you can play as long as you'd like through age 10). When ready, players can try out for our more competitive Select program!
